Obituary
John Elgin of 925 Amelia Ave.,Lynnwood, Belle Vernon, died Monday,March 24,1980,at 7:10 p.m. at Mononghalea Valley Hospital,Carroll Twp. Mr. Elgin was 81. Born April 1,1898, in Moyer, Pa.,he was a Monessen resident for many years. He moved to Lynnwood 35 years ago. He worked at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,as a crane operator until his retirement in 1963. He was a member of the Lynnwood Lutheran Church and the Golden Agers Club of Charleroi. Survivors include his widow, Mary Filipek Elgin; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Betty) Hags of Export, Pa.; a son,Robert J. Elgin of Harrison City,Pa.,and one sister,Mrs. Susan Pierce of Monessen. Friends will be received at the Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday,with the Rev. Hartzell Michael of Lynnwood Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be at the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
