Obituary

John Edwin Hurley,of 206 Delmont Ave., Lynnwood, Belle Vernon, died Monday,May 31,1982 at 7:50 p.m. In Jefferson Center Hospital, Pleasant Hills. He was 72. Mr. Hurley was born Dec. 17,1909, In McKeesport, Pa., a son of the late David R. and Agnes Simpson Hurley. On Sept. 14, 1977, he had celebrated 50 years of marriage to his wife,Isabelle Clark Hurley,who survives. Mrs.Hurley was for many years Family Page editor of The Valley Independent and is still a contributing columnist. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 50 years,Mr.Hurley retired in November 1976 from employment with the Gimbel's Department Store in South Hills Village. He was a member of the former Trinity Episcopal Church in Monessen. In addition to his wife,Mr.Hurley is survived by a daughter,Mrs.A.James (Jean) Morley,of Weirton,W.Va.,a son,Kenneth Robert Clark,of Belle Vernon,three brothers,David of McKeesport,George of Daytona Beach,Fla.,and Richard of Virginia Beach,Va.,seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends will be received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Vigil will be held Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.in the funeral home. Burial Office (funeral service) will be held Thursday at 10 a.m.from the funeral home,with the Rev.Keith L.Ackerman,rector,St.Mary's Episcopal Church,Charleroi,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
