Obituary

John Edward Polachek of 402 Archer St.,Staunton,Va.,died Thursday,July 2,1987,in Staunton. He was 69. Mr.Polachek was born Feb.1,1918,in Charleroi,a son of the late John and Katherine Krchnar Polachek. He was a member of St.Francis Catholic Church,Staunton,and was an active member of AA. A U.S.Army veteran of World War II,he was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. On Oct.26,1974,he married Ann Clatterbaugh Sheets Polachek,who survives. Also survivng are two step-daughters,Patricia Ann Yacisin and Deborah Heberle,both of Harrisburg,two brothers,Emil Polachek of Charleroi and Frank Polachek of Perryopolis,two sisters,Mrs.Anthony (Helen) Lewgood of Monongahela and Mrs.Gust (Pauline) Zantal of Lake Worth,Fla.,two step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his first wife,Denise Delvaux Polachek,in 1973,and by two brothers,August Polachek in 1975 and Joseph Polachek in 1987. A committal service will be held Wednesday,July 3,at noon in Belle Vernon Cemetery with the Rev.Andrew Bialabok officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad,1601 N.Coalter St.,Staunton,Va.or the Hospice of Shenandosh in care of Kings Daughters Hospital,P.O.Box 3000,Staunton,Va. The Hamrick Funeral Home,Staunton,is in charge of arrangements.
