John D. Porter; 81; of Rostraver Township; died Wednesday; July 26; 2006; in the Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born in Rostraver Township on Aug. 16; 1924; he was the son of the late Oliver T. and Alvina (Danielson) Porter. John was a gentlemen farmer and a life member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church; both in Rostraver Township. He retired April 30; 1983; from U.S. Steel; Irvin Works; after 41 years of service. He was a member of the Tri-County Lodge No. 643 F&AM; Donora; the Scottish Rite and the Syria Shrine Caravan; Pittsburgh. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 790 in Smithton and the VFW Post No. 7023 of Perryopolis. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the European Theater during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 49 years; Evelyn (Neth) Porter; two sons; John D. Jack Porter and wife; Jamie (Monios) Porter; of Owasso; Okla.; James E. Porter and wife; L. Rita (Nolan) Porter; of Alexandria; Va.; daughter; Kimberly J. Porter; of Rostraver Township; three grandchildren; John D. J.J. Porter III and Victoria A. Porter; both of Owasso; Okla.; and Bradley P. Bell; of Rostraver Township; a brother; Dr. J. Wayne Porter; of Colo. Springs; Colo.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brother; James O. Porter. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the JAMES C. D.W. Norton; co-officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery; Rostraver Township. The Tri-County Lodge No. 643 F&AM; Donora; will conduct a Masonic funeral service for Brother Porter at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
