Obituary

John D. Moravec, 88, of North Belle Vernon, passed away at home with his family near him, on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. A son of the late Joseph and Mary Korba Moravec, he was born in Donora on May 10, 1927. John was a lifelong resident of the Mon Valley. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church as well as the American Legion Post 659. John served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. John was employed by Fox's grocery and retired in 1989 from Wetterau as a Fork Lift operator. He loved camping, fishing, golfing and worked well with his hands, especially carpentry and playing the guitar. He and his family would sing songs every night while he accompanied with his guitar. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine Suppa Moravec; two daughters and a son in law, Carol Plesko of Dunlevy and Kathleen "Kathy" Belan and her husband Neil of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren, Chad Plesko and his wife Sundeigh of Waynesburg, Jonathan Belan of Belle Vernon, Lesley Belan of Phoenix, AZ and Neil Belan, II of Belle Vernon; three great grandchildren, Hunter, Scout and River Plesko of Waynesburg; a sister Margaret Senko of Donora; as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Emery Plesko and a sister Anne Green. Friends will be received 5 to 9 P.M. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick as celebrant. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
