John Catrino,77, who had operated a retail food store in Belle Vernon for 46 years,died suddenly Wednesday, Aug. 24,1966 at 12:15 p.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. He lived at 131 Jean St.,Belle Vernon. Mr. Catrino was one of Belle Vernon's oldest merchants in point of service. He started in business on Main St. in 1919 and had been associated in that business until his retirement in 1962 when his operation was transferred to his son, Albert. Born in Montagano, Italy,Nov. 26,1888, Mr. Catrino had lived in Belle Vernon since he was six years old. He was a member of St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon. Surviving are his widow, Josephine Carroll Catrino;two sons, Albert of Belle Vernon and Arthur of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Emily) Hennell of Mr. Vernon, Ohio and Joann of New York City;four sisters, Mrs. Mary Colangel, Mrs. Susan Young,Mrs. Elsie Carmosino and Mrs. Christina Iacovino,all of Monessen and eight grandchildren. Friends are being received at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Services will be held Saturday,Aug. 27,at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home,with additional services of Requiem High Mass to follow a 9 a.m. from St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon. The Rev. Martin J. O'Toole will officiate. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D. Ferguson,funeral director.
