Obituary

John Bitonti,Sr.,57,of 249 Main St.,Belle Vernon,died Sunday, May 31,1964,at 12:30 a.m. in Presbyterian Hospital,Pittsburgh after a lengthy illness.  He was a member of St. Sebastian R.C.Church of Belle Vernon,the Belle Vernon Moose and Sons of Italy,was a social member of the American Legion,Belle Vernon post and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Charleroi Aerie. Mr. Bitonti operated John and Josie's Bar in Fayette City. He was born in Italy on July 5,1906. Surviving are his widow,Josephine;two sons,Peter of Monessen and John Jr.of Roscoe;one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Arlene) Vargo of Belle Vernon;four grandchildren;four brothers, Louis and Joseph of Cleveland,Ohio,and Tony and Domenick of Belle Vernon;three sisters, Mrs. Mary Zema of Belle Vernon,Mrs. Catherine Cooper of Van Nuys,Calif.,and Mrs. Theresa Amoroso of Fort Collins,Colo. Friends will be received at the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home in Fayette City after 7 p.m.on June 1. Prayer there Thursday,June 4,at 9:30 a.m. followed by Requiem Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C.Church,Belle Vernon.  The Rev. Martin J. o'Toole,pastor,will officiate.  Interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Howard W. McCrory,funeral director.
