Obituary

John Baker,Jr. 77 of Fairhope, Belle Vernon, PA, passed away suddenly Saturday, March 3, 2012 in the ER of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born October 18, 1934 in Monessen, PA, a son of the late John N Baker and Irene Duda Baker. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,Pa. John was a graduate of Bellmar High School Class of 1952. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War having served on the USS Briareus as a machinery repairman/Gunners mate from 1952-1955. He was retired form Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen Plant as a machinist. John was a member of Brightwell-Daughtery Post 484 American Legion, Fayette City, Naomi AC Club, Fairhope Rod & Gun Club, Past Vice President of the Washington Twp. VFC., former Deputy Constable of Washington Twp. and served as the Washington Twp. Zoning officer. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Irene Valko Baker, son, Jeffrey Baker and wife Linda of Fairhope, son, Michael Baker of Lynnwood and daughter, Paula Baker at home, brother, James Baker and wife Dora of Fairhope, grandson, Jonathan Baker and granddaughter, Gina Baker, Sister-in-law Pauline Baker of Fairhope. He was preceded in death by brother, Steve Baker. Friends will be received Monday, March 05, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home, Inc., 334 Main St., Fayette City, PA.(724)-326-5621,www.eleymccroryfuneralhome.com. Blessing service will take place Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 9:30 am followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 in the St. Sebastian's Roman Catholic Church, with Msgr. Roger A Statnick as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon, Pa.
