Obituary

John Bailey Legros, 78, better know to everyone as JB , died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003 in Mon Valley Hospital, Inc. He was born Aug. 7, 1925 in Marion, Ill., a son of the late Narcissus Frenchy and Mary Donaldson Legros. He was a graduate of Charleroi Area High School and attended Fire School at California University. Mr. Legros served as a past president of the Southwestern Fire Chiefs Association and the Fayette County Fireman's Association and as fire chief of the Washington Township Fire Department for many years. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant and as a retired sales representative of Howe Fire Apparatus. Mr. Legros also was a member of several social clubs. Survivors include his wife, Gizel Giz Legros of Stockdale, two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Dennis Koneffko of Belle Vernon, and Yvonne and Bill Waller of Fayette City, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jay and Maxine Legros of East Millsboro and John Legros of Stockdale, one sister, Sue Dolan and husband Bob of Elizabethtown, seven grandchildren, Renee Baciak, Nicole Mendicino, Zach Koneffko, and Jayson, Ian, Frankie and Tyler Legros, and three great-grandchildren, Madison, Sydney and Mikey. In addition to his parents, Mr. Legros was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Morton and Isabelle Chaney. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC., Roscoe, where funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in JB's name to the Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department, the Washington Township Fire Department or the fire department of one's choice.
