John A. Whitey Walters;90;of Speers Hill;died Monday;Sept.4;2000;in Washington County Health Center. Born Aug.11;1910;in Fairhope;he was the son of the late John N.and Marie Tannka Walters. Mr.Walters was employed by Corning Glass for 19 years and was retired from Westinghouse. He was a member of Speers United Methodist Church;Golden Agers and the Eighty Four Rifle Club. Survivors include his wife;Margaret (Midge) Hazuka Walters;one daughter;Lisa Anne Behe of Altoona;one brother;Eugene Walters of Lynnwood;and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by three sisters;Esther Walters;Marie Gladstein and Lillian Siren. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the LEONARD M.PAVLIC FUNERAL HOME INC.;235 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi;where funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m.;with the Rev.Jeff St.Clair officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to Speers United Methodist Church of the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
