Obituary

John A. Stura, 78, of North Belle Vernon, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Nov. 3, 1927, in Clairton, a son of the late Alexander and Dena Dolfi Stura. John had been employed by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Gibson Yard, Monessen, prior to his retirement. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, a life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department, and a member of the American Legion and the East Belle Vernon Athletic Club, all of Belle Vernon, and the Naomi Athletic Club in Fayette City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Stura. Survivors include his wife, Gloria M. Hyzy Stura, a daughter, Lorene Henry, of Belle Vernon, grandchildren, Lisa Smith and husband Matthew, Gary Henry Jr., and John Henry and wife Samantha, great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Brendon and Brayton, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy Rizzuto and husband Frank Bucky, of Monessen, and Norma Wolf and husband William, of Lawton, Okla., two sisters-in-law, Louise Stura, of Belle Vernon, and Josephine Wilson, of Sutersville, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be held in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, www.fergusonfuneralhome.net, a Golden Rule Member Firm, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724-929-5300), on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church, Belle Vernon. The parish Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 3 p.m., and services will be conducted by the North Belle Vernon Fire Department at 7:15 p.m. and by the American Legion at 8 p.m., all in the funeral home.
