John A. Glenn,former Monessen resident for more that 50 years,died at his home in Miami,Fla.,after a long illness. While in Monessen,Mr. Glenn resided on Reed Ave. He was born in Ireland and spent his early childhood in Braddock,coming to Monessen in 1905. He was formerly a foreman of the nail mill department of Pittsburgh Steel Company's Monessen plant and was formerly a superintendent of the nail mill department in Portsmouth,Ohio. At one time he was a partner in the operation of Cook's Service Station on the Monessen-Belle Vernon Highway. He was a member of St. Lleonard R.C.Church,Monessen,life member of the Monessen B.P.O. Elks 773 and many other organizations. He had made his home in Florida for the past five years. Surviving are his wife, Mary McKenna Glenn;a son,Joseph of Miami,Fla.;three grandchildren;three sisters,Mrs. Sarah Rixner,of Wilkinsburg,Mrs. Margaret Connley and Mrs. Catherine Gorman,both of Los Angeles,Calif.,and a brother,William of Braddock. Friends will be received at the R.A.Billick Funeral Home,Monessen,after 1 p.m.,Monday,July 25. Funeral services will be held Tuesday,July 26,with Blessing services at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home and service of Requiem High Mass at 10 a.m. from St. Leonard R.C.Church,Monessen. The Rev. Martin J. O'Toole will officiate. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. R.A.Billick,funeral director.
