John Alfred Reppert; 85; of Belle Vernon; died Thursday; May 6; 2004. A son of the late Paul C. and Myrtle Zundel Reppert; he was born in Belle Vernon on Dec. 31; 1918. In later years; he was raised by his aunt; Edna L. Reppert. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon; a past member of the church’s official board of trustees; a life member of the Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department No. 2 and a life member and past two-term president of the Belle Vernon Lions Club; where he served for over 50 years and was a Melvin Jones Award recipient. Mr. Reppert was a life member and past commander of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; a former secretary for the Borough of Belle Vernon and a former member and secretary of the Charleroi Hooting Club. He graduated from the Bertha Leonard Business School; retired in 1976 as a supervisor for the former West Penn Power Company; and he served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Cavalry during World War II. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law; Edna Grace and Thomas Tucker Wilkinson of Belle Vernon; with whom he made his home; three brothers and sisters-in-law; Charles W. and Madeline Reppert of Waynesville; Mo.; Franklin and Jean Reppert and Ernest and Donna Reppert; all of Belle Vernon; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his aunt; Edna L. Reppert; two sisters; Betty Mutich and Joan Rach; and three brothers; Thurman; Howard and Donald Reppert. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE; a Golden Rule Member Firm; (724-929-5300); 700 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon; where funeral services will be held Saturday; May 8 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Tim McConville and Rev Dr. Thomas St Clair co- officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The following groups will meet to hold services in the funeral home on Friday: Belle Vernon VFD No. 2 at 7 p.m.; American Legion Post 659 at 7:15 p.m.; and the Lions Club at 7:30 p.m.
