Obituary

John A.Nelson,of 400 Fell St.,Belle Vernon,died Wednesday,Jan.21,1981 in the Veterans Administration Hospital,Oakland. He was 74. Born Nov.26,1906 in Fayette City,he was the son of the late Alfred and Margaret Forslund Nelson. He had been a life-long resident of the Belle Vernon area. Mr.Nelson retired in 1966 as a gauger at the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel,Allenport plant. He was a veteran of World War II,having served with the U.S.Army Infantry. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Fayette City and the American Legion Post 659,Belle Vernon. Survivors include his widow,Catherine Kovanic Nelson,a daughter Mrs.James (Shirley) K.Bair of Perryopolis,a brother,Harry Nelson of Fayette City,a sister,Mrs.Lydia Beazell of Fayette City,three grandchildren,Amy,Michael and Lauri Bair,all of Perryopolis,a nephew,John Chris Nelson and a niece,Beth Lynn Nelson,both of Fayette City. He was preceded in death by three sisters,Lucille,Esther and Mildred Nelson. Friends will be received in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.at the funeral home with the Rev.Fred Gnatuk,pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Fayette City,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. American Legion Post 659,Belle Vernon,will conduct services at the funeral home on Friday at 7:15 p.m. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
