Obituary

John A.Harrison,56,of RD 2,Belle Vernon (Gibsonton),died Friday,Sept.14,1979,at 2:07 p.m.at Mon Valley Hospital. Born Sept.7,1923 at Lock Four,he was the son of Glenn Harrison and the late Mildred Metz Daugherty. He was preceded in death by his stepfather,the late Thomas Daugherty. He is survived by his wife,Velma Thieser Harrison,two daughters,Mrs.Neville (Gladys) Jolliffe,Silver Springs,Md.,and Varla Harrison of the home,two granddaughters,Tracy and Jennifer Jolliffe. Mr.Harrison was a lifelong resident of the Mon Valley area. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi,the Lock Four Fire Department and the Rostraver Emergency Medical Services. A former employee of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co.,Mr.Harrison retired in 1977 from the Monessen plant where he was an electrician. Visitation was held Saturday and Sunday at the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,Belle Vernon,where services were conducted Monday morning at 10:30 a.m.with the Rev.Francis M.Blair,pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi,officiating. Interment was in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
