Obituary

Johanna Tordy Semancik, of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Twp.), passed away Wednesday at 7:12 pm, August 9, 2006 at the age of 86 with family at her side at Sphar’s Personal Care Home, Belle Vernon.

Born March 20, 1920 in Pricedale, PA she was the daughter of the late Julia Puskaus and Joesph Tordy operators of a thriving grocery store until its demise during the great depression.

She was married to her beloved husband Andrew for 58 years until his passing in 1997. A lifelong member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, Johanna was active in the Ladies Guild and was a past Grand Regent of the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas Belle Vernon Court 1522. She was one of the founding members of the Hungarian Ladies Auxillary where she and several other members performed authentic Hungarian folk dances in native costumes. Her greatest treasure in life, she always said, was her loving family all of which she was most proud. Surviving family members include her children, daughter and son in law Dorothy and William Schmidt of Fayette City, daughter and son in law Barbara and James Deutsch of Allenport, son and daughter in law Andrew and Louise Semancik of Monkton, Maryland, son and dear friend Dennis Semancik and Billie Keller of New Cumberland, PA, sister Eleanor Fiorino of the state of California, sister and brother in law Loretta and Donald Mitchner of Coal Center, brother and sister in law Leslie and Linda Lunt of Rostraver Twp., sister in law Elaine Tordy of Belle Vernon, sister in law and brother in law Julia and Oscar Kluh of LaPlata , Maryland, brothers in law Joseph Semancik of Belle Vernon, Anthony Semancik of Fayette City, Steve Semancik and wife Mary of Belle Vernon, grandchildren Christopher Semancik, Andrew Semancik, Ronald Wozniak Sr. and friend Denise Gray, David Wozniak and wife Marcie, Michael Wozniak and wife Robin, Dorothy Ann Wozniak, Todd Schmidt, Brett Schmidt, Jim Deutsch and wife Vickie, Doug Deutsch and wife Chrissy, Eric Deutsch and wife Michele, Melanie Lochner and husband Jason, great grandchildren Ronald Wozniak Jr. and wife Rachael, David Wozniak, Brandon Wozniak, Scott Wozniak, Michael Wozniak, Stephanie Wozniak and Ashley Wozniak, Carley Deutsch, Kacee Deutsch, Shane Schmidt and A. J. Yardas, great great grandson Ronald Wozniak III. Johanna was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.

Prayer Service will be held Saturday at 8:30 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 9:00 am at St. Sebastian R.C. Church, Belle Vernon with the Rev. Charles P. Esposito Parochial Vicar as celebrant.
