Obituary

Joe Misher, Sr., 82, of Belle Vernon (Fairhope), died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at 5:23 p.m., at Monogahela Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Born Oct. 14, 1927, in Washington Township, he was the son of the late Steve and Catherine Kowasic Misher. A lifelong resident of Fairhope, Mr. Misher, Sr. was Catholic by faith and was a retired Heat Treater from Whg-Pgh Steel, Allenport Plant in the Cold Draw Department. He graduated from Marion High School Class of 1945, he was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Coastguard. He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, Belle Vernon Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 209, Croation Club of Monessen, Naomi Athletic Club, Citizens Association of Pricedale, Hungarian Club of Pricedale, Fairhope Rod & Gun Club, Croation Fraternal Union of America Lodge 194 and the VFW Belle Vernon Post 699. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Caputo Misher, to whom he was married 57 years, son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Loretta Misher Jr., of Belle Vernon, sister-in-law, Onie Misher, of Fairhope, uncle, George Misher, of Rices Landing, two nieces, Terry Downer, Margie Yonash and husband Bob, and nephew, Steve Misher, all of Fairhope, three great-nieces, three great-nephews, two great-great-nephews, and a great-great-niece. He is preceded in death by a brother, Steve Misher Jr. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas Pastor of St. Sebastian R.C. Church officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery with military honors accorded by Fayette City American Lehion Post 484. The Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. and the Belle Vernon Moose will hold Tuesday at 7:30 pm, all in the funeral home.
