Jennie Loretta Paul Ciferno; 88; of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township); beloved wife; mother; grandmother; great-grandmother and friend; passed away Tuesday; Sept. 30; 2008; at 5:22 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital; Carroll Township; with her family by her side. She was born Dec. 10; 1919; in Leavittsburg; Ohio; a daughter of the late Michael and Marie Vacca Paul; and wife of the late Raymond ‘Benny’ Ciferno; who passed away Sept. 6; 2008; and to whom she was married for 68 years. In 1955; with her husband; Jennie relocated from Warren; Ohio; to Belle Vernon when Raymond was transferred to the Allenport Steel Mill. She will always be remembered as a fine cook and baker. Many specialties were shared with family and friends over the years. Jennie retired from the coupon department at the former Wetterau Corporation of Belle Vernon. She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and the Anita Garibaldi Society; both in Belle Vernon; the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas; Court Belle Vernon Chapter 1522; the Belle Vernon Golden Age Assembly at Center on the Hill in Washington Township; and she was a social member of the Belle Vernon American Legion. She served as a volunteer with the Mon-Vale Health Resources Inc. Auxiliary at Mon Valley Hospital; enjoyed bocce; bowling and her card clubs for many years. She will be missed by her children; Raymond and Jeffrey Ciferno; Joseph and Janet Ciferno; all of Fayette City; Alexis and Gary Fell; of Avon Lake; Ohio; Paula and Anthony Gelotti; of Houston; Texas; and Eugene Ciferno; of Ruffsdale; 11 grandchildren; Raymond and wife Jill; Natalie Tease and husband Michael; Joseph; John and wife Sharon; Jared and wife Leslie; Jason and wife Michelle; Erin Hayes and wife Marne; William Hayes; Megan Old and husband Jason; Matthew Gelotti and wife Amy; and Bryan Gelotti; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law; Nick and Barbara Paul; of Niles; Ohio; one sister; Virginia Santone; of Warren; Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by one brother; Joseph Paul; and two sisters; Helen Robinson and Margaret Fincham. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; family owned and operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A Prayer Service will be held Friday; Oct. 3; at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas; pastor; as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. On Thursday; members of St. Sebastian Parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Jennie Ciferno at 3 p.m.; and members of the Anita Garibaldi Society will conduct services at 3:30 p.m.; both in the funeral home.
