Jeff Hewitt;76;3-E Millvue Acres;Clairton;a former resident of Monessen;died Wednesday;Oct.1;1975;in McKeesport Hospital. Mr.Hewitt was born May 16;1899;in Marian;Ala.;son of the late Jeff and Sarah Akers Hewitt. He had been a resident of Clairton for the past 10 years. Mr.Hewitt was retired form the former Donora Works of U.S.Steel Corp.and was a member of the Wayman A.M.E.Church of Monessen where he had served as steward and trustee of the church. Survivors include his widow;Bertha J.Hewitt;one son;Tommie Hewitt of Portsmouth;Va.;two daughters;Mrs.Irene Hayes and Mrs.Martha Scott;both of Cleveland;Ohio;25 grandchildren;and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received after 7 p.m.Thursday;Oct.2;and from 2 to 4 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m.Friday;Oct.3;in the Charles W.Newman Funeral Home;313 Spring St.;McKeesport;and after 9 a.m.on Saturday;Oct.4;in the Wayman A.M.E.Church in Monessen. Services will be held in the church at 1 p.m.Saturday with the Rev.C.Dickie;officiating. Interment will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Charles W.Newman;funeral director in charge.
