Jean E.Swartz of 111 Johnston St.;Belle Vernon;a retired area school teacher;died Monday;June 13;1977 at 7:30 a.m.in Jefferson Center;South Hills. Mrs.Swartz;72;had retired seven years ago after having taught at the LaGrange and North Belle Vernon elementary schools. She was born in McKeesport on April 17;1905;daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Moore Rae. She resided in Belle Vernon the past 20 years;formerly having lived in West Newton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon;Belle Vernon Women’s Club;Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association and the American Associastion of Retired Persons (AARP). She also belonged to the Golden Agers in Belle Vernon;Charleroi;Monessen and Fayette City. Surviving are two sons;Howard M.Swartz of West Warwick;R.I.and Dale R.Swartz of San Diego;Calif.;two daughters;Mrs.Bernard (Emily) Tkac of Floreffe and Mrs.Walter (Patricia) Marchewka of Belle Vernon;one brother;Robert B.Rae of Belle Vernon;17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;Belle Vernon;from 7 to 9 p.m.Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor R.Dawson Hopson of the First United Methodist Church;Belle Vernon;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
