Obituary

James W. "Red" Hall,81,formerly of Speers,died Tuesday,April 24,2001,in St. Andrew Village,Indiana,Pa.  Born Feb. 1,1920,in Monessen,he was a son of the late Clyde and Mary Traynor Hall,  He graduated as class president from North Belle Vernon High School in 1939,where he was active in various sports.  Mr. Hall was a former member of the Charleroi F&AM Lodge,Speers Borough Planning Commission,Charleroi Chamber of Commerce,Washington County Board of Tax Appeals and the board of directors of Mon Valley YMCA. He was co-founder of the Charleroi Magicians and Charleroi Chieftains baseball teams,a former president and general manager of the Charleroi Baseball Club and was a part-time scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates.  He had also been a sports announcer for the former WESA radio station and was a columnist for the Charleroi Shopper. Mr. Hall had been a locomotive engineer for the former Donora Southern Railroad,a manager for the former Nassar Insurance Agency in Charleroi and was co-founder of the Woodward/Hall Real Estate Insurance Agency and then the Collins/Hall Real Estate Insurance Agency,from which he retired in 1986 as president and broker. He was a member of the National and Pennsylvania Realtors Associations,and served several terms as president of the Mon Valley Board of Realtors and one term as president of the Mon Valley Multi List Service.  Survivors include his wife,Doris Griffith Hall;a son and daughter-in-law,Dale A. and Barbara Hall of Speers;a daughter and son-in-law,Kimberly and Michael Husenits of Indiana,Pa.;a sister,Irma Zacchero of Pittsburgh,six grandchildren,Michelle Amodei,Michael and Joel Husenits, Jodi Campano and James and Marnie Hall;three great-grandchildren,Tommy and Joey Campano and Erik Amodei;several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister,Mae Hall;a brother in infancy;and an uncle,Edgar Ray Hall. Friends will be received in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers,memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
