James V. Digger Russell; 67;
of 44 Smith St.; Charleroi (Fallowfield Township); died Monday; Aug. 16;1999; at 10:13 p.m.
at home.
He was born May 19;1932; in
Charleroi; a son of the late Michael Joseph and Mary Mnttis
Russell.
Mr. Russell was a lifelong resident of the Charleroi community. He was a member of
Holy Resurrection Orthodox
Church of Belle Vernon.
Mr. Russell was 1950 Charleroi High School graduate;
serving as class president. He
pitched on the high school baseball team and was a running
back on the football team.
He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army serving in the Korean
conflict.
He retired as a tractor driver
from the Allenport plant of
Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel
Corp. He was also a member of
the Charleroi Sportsmans Club.
Survivors include his wife;
Evelyn Mae Skurkay Russell;
three sons and a daughter-inlaw; George Russell of San
Francisco; Calif.; James M. and
Susan Russell of North Charleroi and Stephen Russell of
Baltimore; Md.; one sister; Helen Russell of Johnstown; and
two grandchildren; Stephanie
and Joseph Russell.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home; 626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon. Relatives and friends will gather Thursday at 10 a.m.in holy Resurrection Orthodox Church;Mary Street;Belle Vernon;for funeral services with the Rev.John Kluchko;pastor;officiating. interment will follow in belle Vernon Cemetery. Parastas service will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m.in the funeral home. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
