Funeral services will be held Wednesday;June 13;1973;for James V.Murphy of Charleroi;58;chief clerk for the Washington County Commissioners. Mr.Murphy;who resided at 713 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi;died Saturday June 9;1973;at the Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He had been ill for some time and was admitted to the hospital June 1;suffering from virus pneumonia. Mr.Murphy was named chief clerk in March of 1969;replacing F.William Kittridge. Prior to being named chief clerk;Murphy served as field assessor for the county. He also served as steward of the Veterans of Foreigh Wars post in Charleroi. Mr.Murphy was born April 9;1915;a son of the late James V.and Elizabeth Mears Murphy. He was a member of St.Jerome’s Roman Catholic Church;the Slovak Club and American Turners;all of Charleroi;and the BPOE Lodge 846 of Canonsburg. He is survived by a brother;Harry E.Murphy of Mountain City;Tenn.;and a sister;Mrs.Margaret Leichliter of Collegeville. Friends will be received at the Harold L.Schrock Funeral Home;226 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi;from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.Monday and Tuesday. Mass of the Resurrection will be sung at 10 a.m.Wednesday in St.Jerome’s R.C.Church;Charleroi. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold L.Schrock;funeral director;in charge.
