Obituary

Funeral services will be held Wednesday,June 13,1973,for James V.Murphy of Charleroi,58,chief clerk for the Washington County Commissioners. Mr.Murphy,who resided at 713 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi,died Saturday June 9,1973,at the Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He had been ill for some time and was admitted to the hospital June 1,suffering from virus pneumonia. Mr.Murphy was named chief clerk in March of 1969,replacing F.William Kittridge. Prior to being named chief clerk,Murphy served as field assessor for the county. He also served as steward of the Veterans of Foreigh Wars post in Charleroi. Mr.Murphy was born April 9,1915,a son of the late James V.and Elizabeth Mears Murphy. He was a member of St.Jerome's Roman Catholic Church,the Slovak Club and American Turners,all of Charleroi,and the BPOE Lodge 846 of Canonsburg. He is survived by a brother,Harry E.Murphy of Mountain City,Tenn.,and a sister,Mrs.Margaret Leichliter of Collegeville. Friends will be received at the Harold L.Schrock Funeral Home,226 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi,from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.Monday and Tuesday. Mass of the Resurrection will be sung at 10 a.m.Wednesday in St.Jerome's R.C.Church,Charleroi. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold L.Schrock,funeral director,in charge.
