Obituary

James V. Baker,85,of Monessen, died Sunday, April 2,2000,in Jefferson Hosptial.  Born in New Kensington on Dec. 28,1914,he was a son of the late Adam and Anna Hohider Baker. Mr. Baker had been employed by American Chain and Cable Co.,Page's Division,and had also worked for Westmoreland Engineering. He had also been employed by the Mon Valley Health Center as the assistant maintenance supervisor,prior to his retirement. While at Page's.he had served as vice president of the Steelworker's Union. Mr. Baker was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church of Monessen.  An avid fisherman,Mr. Baker was also a member of and past president of the Ravens A.A. of Monessen,where he was fundamental in the building of the existing club. Mr. Baker was also a member of the Hungarian Club of Moneseen.  Survivors include his wife, Helene Gaysak Baker, with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on Oct. 23,1999; a daughter, Mrs. Lou (Roxanne "De De") Manderino of Belle Vernon; three sons and daughters-in-law,Donald R. and Myrna Baker of Tampa,Fla.,Dr. James V. and Mary Ellen Baker of Palm Beach Gardens,Fla. and Jon and Linda Baker of Belle Vernon; six grandchildren,Rebecca,Beverly,James III, Courtney,Tina and Jonathan and one great-grandchild, Bryan. Friends were received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the Rhome Funeral Home,Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen.  A Funeral Mass will abe conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Epiphany of Our Lord Church,Monessen.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
