Obituary
James Rock,Sr.,78,of Belle Vernon R.D.4,died Friday, July 15,1977 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Italy on April 5,1899,and was retired from the Monessen School District,where he had worked in the maintenance department. Mr. Rock was also a former member of the Monessen Auxiliary Police. He belonged to St. Anne's Catholic Church,Rostraver Twp. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter,Mary Helen Manack, on June 18,1977,and by a son, James Rock Jr. on May 4,1977. Surviving are his widow, Dorothy Pierce Rock;two sons, Raymond Annonio of Somerset and Martin Kenneth Rock of Westland, Mich.;five daughters, Mrs. Michael (Jane) Hakulin of Twlight Brough, Mrs. Mildred Charlton of California,Pa.,Mrs. John (Rose) Manack of Columbus, Ohio,Mrs. Norma Libby of Charleroi and Mary Lou Rock,at home;one brother,Pete Annonio of Monessen;two sisters, Mary Cole and Minerva Turner,both of Donora;18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Ed Melenyzer Funeral Home,262 Donner Ave.,Monessen from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Catholic Church,Rostraver Twp. with the Rev. Renato F. Gianni,pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Ed Melenyzer is funeral director in charge.
