Obituary

James Owens,a resident of the Edgewood Nursing Home in Youngstown,Pa.,died Sunday,July 7,1985,in the Latrobe Hospital. A former resident of 410 Graham St.,Belle Vernon,for more than 30 years,he was 94. Mr.owens had resided in the Edgewood Nursing Home the past four years. He was born May 1,1891,in New Straitsville,Ohio,a son of the late James and Maggie Holt Owens. A U.S.Army veteran of World War I,Mr.Owens had served as a private first class in the 80th Division. He was a retired machine operator for the Maple Creek Mine. Survivors include his wife,Lillian Batten Owens,also a resident of the Edgewood Nursing Home,and one daughter,Mrs.Helen M.Briden of North Hollywood,Calif. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Wednesday,July 10,at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Kenneth Neiderhiser,pastor of the Belle Vernon Church of the Nazarene,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
