Obituary

James O. Clawson Jr. of 102 Vine St.,Belle Vernon,died Wednesday,June 29,1983,at 1:20 a.m. in the Mon Valley Hospital.  He was 62.  Mr. Clawson was born May 21,1921,in Belle Vernon,a son of the late James O.and Sarah Daugherty Clawson Sr.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon. Mr. Clawson was a member and Past Master of the Belle Vernon F&AM Lodge No. 643.  He was also a member of the Belle Vernon Fire Department and the Belle Vernon American Legion No.639.  A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon,he was a former jeweler.  Mr. Clawson had worked as a salesman for the past 21 years at Jack Roley Pontiac and Cadillac Garage in Belle Vernon.  He was a veteran of World War II,having served as a technical sergeant with the 8th Air Force. Survivors include his widow,Jacqueline Guseman Clawson;two sons,James O. Clawson III of Lima, Ohio,and Jeffrey J. Clawson of Redondo Beach,Calif.;one daughter,Mrs. William (Sheree) Auell of Seagertown,Pa.;two sisters,Mrs. Jean Goeppinger of Warren,Ohio and Mrs. Betty Conklin of Ada,Ohio;and two grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Saturday,July 2,at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce E. Smith,pastor of the First Christian Church of Fayette City,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The following memorial services will be held in the funeral home on Friday evening;Belle Vernon Fire Department,7 p.m.;Belle Vernon American Legion,7:15 p.m.;and Belle Vernon Masonic Lodge No. 643,7:30 p.m.  Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
