Obituary

James Mimidis of Belle Vernon R.D.2 died at 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday,April 24,1985,in the Waddington Nursing Home. He was 85. Born Sept.14,1899,in Chios,Greece,he was a son of the late Stomatie and Maria Kavadas Mimidis. From 1940 to 1981,Mr.Mimidis operated Jimmy's Fruit Market of Route 201 in Rostraver Township. He was self-employed as a truck farmer. Mr.Mimidis was a member of St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church of Monessen and the United Chios Society of America,Monessen Chapter (Omonicia) In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a granddaughter,Cheryl Ann Speers,in 1970. Surviving are his wife,Helen Harkins Mimidis,a son,Thomas E.Mimidis of Belle Vernon R.D.2,two daughters,Mrs.Van (Martha) Speers of Daisytown R.D.1 and Mrs.Lucille Rohm of Monaca,four sisters in Chios,Greece,10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Friends are being received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Friends will gather at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home to go to St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church,Monessen,where services will be held at 11 a.m. with Father Gregory C.Wingenbach officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Vigil services will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
