James Mimidis of Belle Vernon R.D.2 died at 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday;April 24;1985;in the Waddington Nursing Home. He was 85. Born Sept.14;1899;in Chios;Greece;he was a son of the late Stomatie and Maria Kavadas Mimidis. From 1940 to 1981;Mr.Mimidis operated Jimmy’s Fruit Market of Route 201 in Rostraver Township. He was self-employed as a truck farmer. Mr.Mimidis was a member of St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church of Monessen and the United Chios Society of America;Monessen Chapter (Omonicia) In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by a granddaughter;Cheryl Ann Speers;in 1970. Surviving are his wife;Helen Harkins Mimidis;a son;Thomas E.Mimidis of Belle Vernon R.D.2;two daughters;Mrs.Van (Martha) Speers of Daisytown R.D.1 and Mrs.Lucille Rohm of Monaca;four sisters in Chios;Greece;10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Friends are being received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon. Friends will gather at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home to go to St.Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church;Monessen;where services will be held at 11 a.m. with Father Gregory C.Wingenbach officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Vigil services will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Shelby D.Ferguson;funeral director;is in charge of arrangements.
