Obituary

Cpl.James Jones,Jr.,22,of Belle Vernon,a veteran of action in Italy,died Wednesday,January 24,1945,at 12:15 p.m.at the Fitzsimmons Hospital,Denver,Colorado.Corporal Jones,who had been in the service two years,was stricken ill while serving with the American forces in Italy. He was recently returned to the United States and on Monday his mother was summoned to his bedside by a report that his condition was critical. On Wednesday his father received a telegram from Mrs.Jones stating their son had died. No other details were available pending the arrival of the body. Corporal Jones,a graduate of North Belle Vernon High School,is survived by his parents,four brothers,Cpl.William in Corsica,Staff Sgt.Colvin in Boston,Mass.,Henry in New York and George at home. Four sisters also survive,Alice E.McCullun,Ruth and Nancy,at home,and Betty in New York. Funeral services will be held Monday,January 29,at 2:00 p.m.at the Antioch Church,Belle Vernon,with Rev.Louis Stewart officiating. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. Charles L.Melenyzer and Edwin Melenyzer,funeral directors,in charge.
