Obituary

James Laird, 71, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at 8:15 p.m. at Country Care Manor. Born Nov. 4, 1939, in Monessen, he was the son of the late Wallace and Mary Damore Laird. A resident of Rostraver Township, Mr. Laird attended Pricedale Union Church, was a retired instrument technician from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen and Allenport Plants. He was a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Region Early Ford V8 Club, enjoyed antique automobiles, drag racing, and traveling to various air shows across the country. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Pozum Laird, to whom he was married 49 years, son, William Laird, of Belle Vernon, and fiance, Kelly Rockwell, two daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and Kenneth Beaver, of Kingsville, Ohio, and Elaine and Charles Gaertner, of Carrboro, N.C., brother and sister-in-law, David and Alana Laird, of Phoenix, Ariz., four grandchildren, Devastashah and Leo Beaver, Greta and Van Gaertner, and a great-grandson, Augusten Beaver. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wallace Laird Jr. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon (724) 929-6183. Services will be held Friday at the funeral home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James J.
