James (Jimmy) George,87,of Charleroi,died Wednesday,Jan. 15,1992 in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township. Mr. George was well known as a promoter of amateur boxing shows in Charleroi,where he had served as a former member of Charleroi Borough Council for a period of 16 years. In 1981,he received recognition as Charleroi's "Man of the Year." That same year,he was the recipient of the Charleroi American Legion Post No. 22's Distinguished Service Award. He was born Oct. 25,1904,in Albania, a son of the late Andon and Anastasia George. Mr. George retired in 1975 from employment with the Allenport plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church,Charleroi,and the Methodist Men of the church. Mr. George was also president and promoter of the AAC Club of Charleroi. He was also a member of the Charleroi Boosters Club,the Macs Club,Charleroi Elks Lodge No. 494,Belle Vernon American Legion Post No. 659 and the Charleroi American Legion Post No. 22. Surviving are his wife, Louise Suppa George; two sons, Thomas (Champ) George of Las Vegas, Nev.,and Joseph Bondi of Charleroi; five daughters, Mrs. Fred (Twylia) Sishel of Miami,Fla.,Mrs. Ralph ( Sandra) Garcia of Homestead, Fla.,Mrs.John (Gloria) Joseph of Sebring,Fla,Mrs. Robert (Arlene) Chew of Charleroi and Mrs. Lee (Dolores) Roberts of Charleroi; one brother,John George of Auburn, Mass.;one sister, Marika George in Albania; 28 grandchildren;several great and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard M. Pavlic Funeral Home,Inc.,235 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi. Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Paul R. Milliken,pastor,First United Methodist Church,Charleroi,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
