Obituary

James (Jimmie) Nichols,Grindstone,died Saturday,Oct.27,1984,at 5 a.m. in the Brownsville General Hospital. He was 84. Mr.Nichols was born in Pricedale (Redtown) on Nov.3,1899, a son of the late Joseph and Sarah Bowater Nichols. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and was a retired coal miner for the H.C.Frick Coal Co. He was a member of the Fayette County Baseball Hall of Fame. In adition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his wife,Anna Giassgow Nichols,who died March 28,1970. Survivors include a son,Robert (Bob) Nichols of Hopwood. Friends will be received at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.,Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday until 1 p.m.when services will be held at the funeral home with the Rev.C.E.Stollings offficiating. Burial will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
