James (Jimmie) Nichols;Grindstone;died Saturday;Oct.27;1984;at 5 a.m. in the Brownsville General Hospital. He was 84. Mr.Nichols was born in Pricedale (Redtown) on Nov.3;1899; a son of the late Joseph and Sarah Bowater Nichols. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and was a retired coal miner for the H.C.Frick Coal Co. He was a member of the Fayette County Baseball Hall of Fame. In adition to his parents;he was preceded in death by his wife;Anna Giassgow Nichols;who died March 28;1970. Survivors include a son;Robert (Bob) Nichols of Hopwood. Friends will be received at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.;Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday until 1 p.m.when services will be held at the funeral home with the Rev.C.E.Stollings offficiating. Burial will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
