James J. Altemara,67,of 202 Knox Ave.,Monessen,died at Charleroi-Monessen Hospital Monday,Aug. 21,1967,at 2;55 p.m. He had been admitted to the hospital Aug. 6. Mr. Altemara,a musician,had served until the tme of his death as financial secretary to the Charleroi Musical Society for the past 20 years. Employed at the Monessen Page Division of American Steel and Wire Co.until retirement Feb. 1,1967,he was a member of the First Baptist Church,Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 638,Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2399,B.P.O.Elks 773,Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania,Sons of Italy 1764,Italian Hall,all of Monessen and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 103,Charleroi. Surviving are his widow,Lois Bachofer Altemara;three sons, Joseph of Thousand Oaks,Calif.;James of Newberry Park,Calif.,Donald of Reseda,Calif.;a daughter,Mrs. Ralph (Bernice) Papp of Canoga Park,Calif.;eleven grandchildren;two sisters,Mrs. John (Teresa) Dodaro and Mrs. Patsy (Mary) Denti of Monessen;three brothers,Robert and Joseph (Peppy) of Monessen and Ernest of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received at the H.Denver Rhome Funeral Home,Monessen,after 7 p.m. Aug. 22. Service there Thursday,Aug 24 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Colas,pastor of Belle Vernon Baptist Church,officiating. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery. Masonic service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Aug.23. H.Denver Rhome is funeral director.
