James H. Rainey, 79, of Framingham, MA, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 in Beth Israel Hospital, Boston. A son of the late Joseph W. and Margaret Brown Rainey, he was born in Belle Vernon on April 1, 1937. Baptist by faith, James served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the National Rifle Association and a former member of the American Legion. He had resided in Newton, MA from 1955 through 1998 when he moved to Framingham. He was a printer operator by trade. He enjoyed spending summers and hunting with his son Rick and friends, at the family house at Deep Creek Lake, MD. Survivors include five sons and one daughter-in-law, James Rainey of Framingham, Joseph W. and Sandra Rainey of Live Oaks, FL, Richard A. Rainey and twins, David B. Rainey and Donald W. Rainey, all of Framingham, one sister, Ruth Short, two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Debbie Rainey of Barington, RI and Joseph and Rit Rainey of Chesterton, IN, seven grandchildren, including Stewart Rainey and his wife Noel, Martial Rainey and Harley Rainey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet L. Kezer Rainey on August 17, 2004, a sister, Alva Mae Rainey and a brother, George Rainey. Friends will be received 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. 724-929-5300
