James Edward McClain Sr.; 73; formerly of Belle Vernon; died Monday; Sept. 16; 2002; in San Jose; Calif. Born Feb. 22; 1929; in North Belle Vernon; he was a son of the late John J. and Bertha Clement McClain. He had been a resident of San Jose since 1971 and was Baptist by faith. Mr. McClain was retired from National Semi Conductor; where he worked as an electronic engineer. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict; having served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. McClain is survived by his wife; Lavina Hewitt McClain; to whom he was married 56 years; four sons and three daughters-in-law; James E. McClain Jr. of Belle Vernon; and William and Lexie McClain; Charles and Carrie McClain; and Stephen and Beth McClain; all of San Jose; one daughter and son-in-law; Joyce and Don Neill of Willow Grove; two brothers and sisters-in-law; George and Vivian McClain of Belle Vernon; and Herbert and Kaye McClain of Charleroi; two sisters and one brother-in-law; Betty Brewer of Belle Vernon; and Patricia and Jack Narey of Monongahela; five grandchildren; Brenda; Becky; Tara; Forrest and Logan; two great-grandchildren; Ian and Cory; and was uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. McClain was preceded in death by one brother; John J. McClain; one sister; Florence Ellen Burkhart; and one grandson; Rick. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; Family Owned and Operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon. Services will be held Thursday; Sept. 26; in the funeral home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James C. Ramsey; pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon; officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
