Obituary

James Edward McClain Sr., 73, formerly of Belle Vernon, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, in San Jose, Calif. Born Feb. 22, 1929, in North Belle Vernon, he was a son of the late John J. and Bertha Clement McClain. He had been a resident of San Jose since 1971 and was Baptist by faith. Mr. McClain was retired from National Semi Conductor, where he worked as an electronic engineer. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. McClain is survived by his wife, Lavina Hewitt McClain, to whom he was married 56 years, four sons and three daughters-in-law, James E. McClain Jr. of Belle Vernon, and William and Lexie McClain, Charles and Carrie McClain, and Stephen and Beth McClain, all of San Jose, one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Don Neill of Willow Grove, two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Vivian McClain of Belle Vernon, and Herbert and Kaye McClain of Charleroi, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty Brewer of Belle Vernon, and Patricia and Jack Narey of Monongahela, five grandchildren, Brenda, Becky, Tara, Forrest and Logan, two great-grandchildren, Ian and Cory, and was uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. McClain was preceded in death by one brother, John J. McClain, one sister, Florence Ellen Burkhart, and one grandson, Rick. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, in the funeral home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James C. Ramsey, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
