James D. "Joey" Davis of 86 Highland Terrace,Donora,died Sunday Oct. 2,1983 at 9:30 p.m. in Mercy Hospital,Pittsburgh. He was 41. Mr. Davis was born Dec. 8,1941,in Charleroi,a son of the late James L. and Florence Walters Davis. Protestant by faith,he was an unemployed steelworker. A former Monessen resident,Mr. Davis had lived in Donora the past eight years. Survivors include his widow,Mattie Davis;five sons,James Jr.,Aaron,Percy and Keith Davis,all of Monessen and Shaun Diggs of Monessen;three daughters,Arlene Davis,Erica Davis and Chastity Diggs,all of Monessen; his maternal grandfather,Theodore Walters of Monessen;three brothers,Bruce Davis of Monessen,Maurice Davis of South Carolina and Greg Davis of Monessen;three sisters, Evelyn Merritt and Maxine Davis, both of Monessen,and Sarah Stewart of Virginia,and several aunts,uncles,nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the William R. Taylor Funeral Home,645 McMahon Ave.,Monessen,where services will be held Thursday,Oct. 6,at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Oscar Hill of Union Baptist Church,Monessen,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The William R. Taylor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
