James A. Vasko, 84, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2024 in his home.
Born on July 2, 1940 in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Krofchek) Vasko.
James was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and also many local clubs and organizations. James was a hard worker. He was employed as an airplane mechanic in Connecticut before his employment with Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He simultaneously was the owner and operator of the former Valley Termarid. He was a United States Army Veteran and loved to go hunting and fishing, especially at his cabin in Farmington, PA.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Steban of Belle Vernon; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Kristina, and Tyler Steban all of Belle Vernon and Aubrey, Braedon, and Carter Simpson all of Warrenton, VA; a brother in-law and sister in-law. Gerald and Eleanor VanBremen of Rostraver; a niece, Eugenia VanBremen and husband Maxwell Lawrence of Brooklyn, NY; his special little Addy; and his furry friends, Kitty and Millie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Neville Vasko on November 27, 2022, a daughter, Lara Simpson in April 2021, and a son in-law, John Steban in October 2007.
Friends will be received on Saturday, August 24th from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M., the time of services, in the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. 724-929- 5300.
