Obituary

James Andrew Butler, 97, of Chester, W.Va., formerly of Belle Vernon, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at the home of his son in Chester. A son of the late James and Annie Laura Hope Butler, he was born in Donora on July 5, 1907. Mr. Butler was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Colonial Heights, Va., and retired from Pittsburgh Steel, where he was a chief engineer. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jean Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, two sons and daughters-in-law, James D. and Joan Butler of Chester, Va., and John L. and Lana Butler of Bristol, Tenn., 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Lucille M. Butler and Elizabeth Butler, and a daughter, Patricia Ann Romine. A Funeral Mass was celebrated today in St. Ann Catholic Church, Colonial Heights. A chapel service, followed by interment, will be Saturday, Dec. 11 at 10:30 a.m. in Belle Vernon Cemetery with the Rev. Ronald Cyktor Jr., parochial vicar, St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Local arrangements are being handled by the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC. and CREMATION SERVICE, a Golden Rule Member Firm, (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon.
