Jacob Laughlin, aged 58, of Rostraver township, died Monday,July 16,1923,at noon in the Memorial hospital at Monongahela City from injuries received the night before, when he was struck by an automobile driven by William Beck of Webster. The accident happened on the Webster-Monesen road near the incinerating plant. Mr. Laughlin, who resides nearby, stepped directly in the path of the auto and was knocked down and rolled, the car passing over his body. Mr. Beck brought his machine to a stop and picking up the injured man hurried him to the police station in Monessen, where he was given first aid and then removed to the Memorial hospital. He suffered from a broken leg,broken arm,badly lacerated head and other injuries that caused his death. The body was brought to the home of his son,William,of Monessen and funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon,July 18,1923,at 2 o'clock with interment in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. He is survived by two sons,William of Monessen,John of Johnstown,one daughter,Marion of Pittsburgh, two brothers,A.W.Laughner of Wilson and John of Homestead and one sister,Mrs.H.Martin of Belle Vernon.
