Obituary

Jack C. Stonfer,83,of Twilight Borough, Charleroi,died Monday, Aug. 26,1991,at 4:30 a.m. in Country Meadows of the South Hills Nursing Facility at Bridgeville after a lengthy illness. He was born in Newell Oct. 1,1907,a son of the late John and Maria Orsega Stonfer.  Mr. Stonfer was Catholic by faith. He was the retired mayor of Twilight Borough,former constable and chief of police.  Mr. Stonfer was a long-time Democratic committeeman. He was retired as yardmaster at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation,Monessen plant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Stefanick Stonfer,on Aug. 12,1982;three brothers, Michael, John and Louis Stonfer;and two sisters, Cecelia Nold and Virginia Lama. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law,Jack R. and Sharon Stonfer of Hershey;one daughter,Gwendolyn A. Yarnick of Charleroi;three grandchildren,Eric,Adam and Ryan Stonfer of Hershey;one brother,Joseph Stonfer of Newell and two sisters,Mrs. Margaret Fedules of Newell and Mrs. Mary Ferguson of California,Pa. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m.at the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City. A Blessing service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Richard Mackiewicz,pastor of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,Fayette City,officiating.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
