Italo Rossi;100;the Valley’s only known centenarian;died Thursday;Feb.10;1972;at 2:15 a.m. in the Golden Age Nursing Home;Brownsville. Born May 25;1871;in San Marcello;Italy;Mr.Rossi came to the United States in 1904 and settled in Belle Vernon. He later moved to Allenport;where he lived for 62 years until entering the nursing home two years ago. Mr.Rossi worked as a coal miner for a time and later was employed by the then Pittsburgh Steel Co.in its Allenport Plant. His wife;Emma Innocenti Rossi;died in 1935. He also was preceded in death by a son;George. Surviving are a son;Albert C.Rossi of Belle Vernon;a daughter;Mrs.Joseph (Mary) Guerra of Long Branch;six grandchildren;21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Friends will be received at the Schrock Funeral Home;Charleroi;Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday;Feb.12;1972;when a blessing service will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m.followed by Requiem Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m.in Holy Ghost Catholic Church;Charleroi;with the Rev.Andrew Chura officiating.
