Obituary

Italo Rossi,100,the Valley's only known centenarian,died Thursday,Feb.10,1972,at 2:15 a.m. in the Golden Age Nursing Home,Brownsville. Born May 25,1871,in San Marcello,Italy,Mr.Rossi came to the United States in 1904 and settled in Belle Vernon. He later moved to Allenport,where he lived for 62 years until entering the nursing home two years ago. Mr.Rossi worked as a coal miner for a time and later was employed by the then Pittsburgh Steel Co.in its Allenport Plant. His wife,Emma Innocenti Rossi,died in 1935. He also was preceded in death by a son,George. Surviving are a son,Albert C.Rossi of Belle Vernon,a daughter,Mrs.Joseph (Mary) Guerra of Long Branch,six grandchildren,21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Friends will be received at the Schrock Funeral Home,Charleroi,Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday,Feb.12,1972,when a blessing service will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m.followed by Requiem Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m.in Holy Ghost Catholic Church,Charleroi,with the Rev.Andrew Chura officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold L.Schrock,funeral director.
