Hugh Patrick Lavery,82,of 410 Eckels Drive,New Kensington,died Monday,Jan.20,1964 in Indiana Hospital after a three months illness. Mr.Lavery,born Dec.7,1881,was a retired mill worker of the Aluminum Co.of America. At one time he had worked in the coal fields of the Monongahela Valley. He was a baseball pitcher for the Pennsylvania-Ohio-Maryland league in the 1920s and also pitched for the Dallas Tex. league. Surviving are three sons,Charles (Bud) Laver of Falls Church,Va., Hugh R. of Tampa, Fla., and John D. of New Kensington; two brothers, Daniel and James of New Kensington; three sisters, Sarah S. Walker of New Kensington, Mrs. Lester (Mary Beatrice) Dopler of Charleroi, and Mrs. Andrew (Nellie) Vendlick of Roscoe. Friends are being received at the Owczykowski Funeral Home, 1125 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington,opposite St.Joseph Church. Funeral will be Friday morning,Jan.24,followed by a graveside service at Belle Vernon Cemetery. Owczykowski Funeral home in charge.
