Obituary

Hugh E. Gallo of 1051 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Monday,April 25,1988,in Mon Valley Hospital.  He was 81. Mr. Gallo was born April 13,1907,in Monessen,a son of the late Ernest and Natalie Gallo. He was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church,Rostraver Township,where he was a former deacon,trustee and Sunday School superintendent.  At the time of his death,he was serving as treasurer of the Sunday School. Mr. Gallo was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Monessen plant. He was a member of F&AM Lodge 643 of Belle Vernon,where he served as chaplain for many years. Mr. Gallo was treasurer of the Rostraver Council of Churches Food Bank.  He was a member of the Rostraver AARP.  Survivors include his wife, Doris Sylvester Gallo;two daughters, Shirley Succop of Conneaut Lake and Nancy Gallo of Minneapolis,Minn.;one brother,Arduin Gallo of Clearwater,Fla.;two sisters,Viola Rossa of Pittsburgh and Mrs. William (Lala) Merritt of Monessen and two grandchildren,Robert and Amanda Succop. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home,Sweeney Plan,Rostraver Township. Services will be held Thursday,April 28,at 11 a.m. in Olive Branch Baptist Church,Rostraver Township,with the Rev. D.W. Norton,pastor,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Belle Vernon F&AM Lodge 643 will hold Masonic services on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.  The James C. Stump Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
