Obituary

Hugh B. Bud Dunn Jr., 91, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. A son of the late Hugh B. and Hazel Mountsier Dunn, he was born in Belle Vernon on Aug. 15, 1918. Protestant by faith, he was formerly of Belle Vernon, where he had lived most of his life. He graduated from Belle Vernon High School in 1936, and played drums in various drum and bugle corps throughout the Mon Valley including the Clan Grant Pipe Band of Donora, where he served as the Past Chief in 1955 and 1956. Bud served with the U.S. Marines, Sixth Marine Division, during World War II in the South Pacific. He retired in 1981 from the Bentleyville Flower Shop. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Eileen and William Wagner, of Delmont, and Louise and Ray Clark, of Greensburg, four grandchildren, Christine Nicely and husband, Dennis, of Delmont, Heather Jean Wimple and husband, Jason, Amanda and Rebecca Clark, all of Greensburg, and two great-grandsons, Andrew Wimple and Thomas Nicely. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Hamer Dunn, on May 12, 2003. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, (724-929-5300), www.fergusonfuneralhomeandcrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the funeral home Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Suzanne Currie, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The officers of the First Presbyterian Church will meet in the funeral home to hold services Monday at 7 p.m.
