Obituary

Howard L. Red West, 84, of Belle Vernon, died in his home Monday, Sept. 30, 2013. A son of the late Rev. Samuel E. and Alma G. Paulson West, he was born in East Liverpool, Ohio. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, he had attended the Char-Belle Free Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Susan A. West, who passed away on April 13, 2009, brothers, Paul, Oliver, Charlie and Bob West. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and his wife, Terry, of Palmetto, Fla., and Alan West and his wife, Monica, of Morriston, Fla., a grandson, Arthur West Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Altoona, two great-grandchildren, Coulton and Savannah West, siblings, Sarah Wilbraham of McDonald, Rev. James Ray West and his wife, Betty, of Normalville, Rev. David L. West and his wife, Martha, of Marion, Mich., and Dorothy Williams of Star Junction, as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, http://www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Eugene H. Spear and Jean Ferguson co-officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
