Howard A.Rhodes of 307 Center st.;Belle Vernon;died Tuesday;Nov.8;1983;at 12:55 a.m.in the Mon Valley Hospital. He was 72. Mr.Rhodes was born June 2;1911;in Charleroi;a son of the late Herman and Mary Sharpenberg Rhodes. A resident of Belle Vernon since 1950;he retired from the U.S.Postal Service in 1972;having been a letter carrier in Brentwood and Charleroi. Mr.Rhodes was a U.S.Army vetern of World War II. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by his wife;Helen Feryok Rhodes;in May 1970. Survivors include one daughter;Mrs.Michael (Suzanne)Kuba of Upper St.Clair;and two sisters;Mrs.Arvilla Greene of San Antonio;Texas;and Mrs.Ethel Waggoner of Charleroi. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where services will be held Thursday;Nov.10;at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Francis Blair;pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will hold services Wednesday at 7 p.m.at the funeral home.
