Obituary

Hobart D. Clegg Jr., 72, of 1037 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 1989, at 12:24 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Born Oct. 21, 1917, in West Newton, he was the son of the late Hobart and Nina Cruthers Clegg Sr. Mr. Clegg had lived in Belle Vernon the past three years, having formerly resided in Perryopolis and the state of Virginia. He was a member of First Christian Church, Belle Vernon, the Belle Vernon American Legion and the Perryopolis Moose Lodge. A U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, Mr Clegg worked as a civilian employee as a copy writer and editor for the U.S. Army before he retired in 1980. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Peach Clegg. Surviving are one son, Joseph H. Clegg of Columbus, Ohio, one grandson, William Clegg of Columbus, one brother and sister-in- law, Carl and Clara Clegg of Belle Vernon, and one sister, Mildred Kostella of Perryopolis R.D.I. Friends were received Monday until 2 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, when services were held with the Rev Donald Bowers of First Christian Church, Belle Vernon, officiating. Interment was in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
