Obituary

Seven months after the death of his brother,William J.Foulks,of North Charleroi,Hiram Henry Foulks,aged 54 years,of the same community and a well-known river man for many years,died Friday night,January 16,1942,at 11 o'clock in the United States Marine Hospital,Pittsburgh. He had been in failing health for about three years. Mr.Foulks resided at 317 Isabelle avenue in North Charleroi and was well known in this section. He was employed by the J.and L.Coal company as a member of the crew of the steamer Vulcan. He was born at Rostraver,Pa.,on February 22,1887,a son of Mrs.Hannah Foulks McCreary and the late John Foulks. Surviving are his 84-year-old mother,his wife,Mrs.Mae Gimbert Foulks, one son,Glenn Earl Foulks,at home,and one sister,Mrs.Samuel H.Gaskill of North Charleroi. Mr.Foulks was an employee of the Daily Independent a number of years ago. Friends are being received at the late home where funeral services will probably be held Monday afternoon,January 19,1942,at 2 o'clock. Rev.Byron R.Mahan of the First Christian Church will officiate and interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Samuel H.Gaskill,Jr.,is funeral director.
