Obituary

Herbert F.Frew,86,of Monessen,died Sunday,Jan.23,2005,in the Washington Hospital. He was born June 24,1918,in Monessen,a son of the late William M.Frew and Laura Tolf Frew. He was a member of St.Paul's Lutheran Church of Monessen and Monessen Lodge 638 F&AM. Mr.Frew also was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast and a U.S.Army veteran of World War II with the 3rd Armored Infantry. He was an employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in the Blooming Mill prior to retirement. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law,Mrs.Donald (Cheryl) DeVore of Monongahela,and a son,Dennis H.Frew and wife Sadie of Hanover,three grandchildren,Dana Thorne and Benjamin and Lindsay DeVore,one great-granddaughter,Kayla Thorne,a brother,Robert Frew of Baltimore,Md.,and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife,Margaret Watson Frew,and the following brothers and sisters,Rodger and Delmar Frew,Jean Thieser,Duane Frew,Ruth Clutter,James and Thompson Frew,Dorothy Corbett,and David,Donald,Eileen,Joan and Marion Frew. Friends will be received at the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen,a Golden Rule Funeral Home,from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m.Thursday,Jan.27,followed by services in St.Paul's Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Masonic services will be held Wednesday in the funeral home at 7 p.m.
