Obituary

Services will be held Wednesday, July 21,1948,at 9 a.m. in Mother of Sorrows Church for Sgt. Henry Bongiorno,315 Shady Ave.,who was killed in England on June 23,1943.  The body will arrive at 7:35 p.m. Monday night, July 19,1948 by Pennsylvania Railroad train.  He was serving with the U.S. Air Force and was reported to have been killed by premature explosion of a bomb. Heny Bongiorno was born in Charleroi,January 14,1913,the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Bongiorno and educated in Charleroi schools.  He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Church and the Turners Society. He was an electrician at Pittsburgh Steel Co.before entering service. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Bongiorno,one child,Donna Maria;his parents;seven brothers and four sisters, who include Sam,Thomas,Paul,of Charleroi;Anthony of Fairhope,Joseph of Monongahela,Philip,at home and Frank in California state,Mrs. Anna Benedetti,Mrs. Bessie Sutch of Charleroi,Mrs. Sara Osiol of Donora Aad Miss Mary Bongiorno at home. Friends will be received at the Francis C. Slezak Funeral Home.  Requiem High Mass will be sung in the Mother of Sorrows Church,Wednesday,July 21,1948,at 9 a.m.,in charge of Rev. J.J. Thomas.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Francis C. Slezak is the funeral director.
